Avalon Bey Newfoundland Kennel is located in Vale, North Carolina. Laura Rader and Rob Rader together with Julie Fitser raise our Newfoundland dogs near Charlotte, NC, USA.
Laura Rader has a versatile background when in comes to dogs and horses that dates back to her childhood. Over the past 30 years, she has experienced showing and breeding, American Cockers, Welsh Corgi’s, Jack Russell Terriers. When Laura was a teenager, she showed Arabian Horses in 4-H and then was a professional horse trainer as a young adult working for Pine Valley Arabians and Eppich Arabians many years ago.. During her college years, Laura ventured oversees to Denmark and Iceland. While in Denmark she met up with her long time Danish Arabian horse friend and then hopped over to Iceland to ride Iceland horses and visit the future cove for the famous killer whale, Keiko. The summer of 2003, Laura attended the Iditarod teacher conference in Wasilla, Alaska. During her visit, she learned a great deal about breeding, nutrition/health care, training and race preparation of sled dogs. Her most absorbing experience was meeting and touring dog kennels of several famous mushers such as Martin Buser, Linda Plettner, and Wayne Curtis (a Siberian Husky breeder). This was an adventure of a life time!!

Avalon Bey owe's much of my success to Patti McDowell of Council Cup Newfoundlands for the breedings to Dante and Romeo and to Debbie Thornton of Cypress Bay Newfoundlands for entrusting Snazzy to Laura Rader and Julie Fitser. Avalon Bey's owes a great deal of success to Julie Fitser who partnered with Avalon Bey to show and breed some our best Newfoundland dogs. Peggy and Dave Helming of Pouch Cove Newfoundlands were the biggest fans of Zeus - BISS GCH Avalon Bey's Little Bit of Thunder and I thank them for all their help, support and encouragement over the past few years. Avalon Bey also sends a big thank you to Kathy Griffin of Seabrook Newfoundlands for sending us a Carrie a Zeus granddaughter and Carson a Zeus son.
Avalon Bey is also proud owners of the Hungarian Pumi which we are proud to have Cypress Bay Pumi as our mentor in breeding and showing these great herding dogs. We are proud to be a part of AKC which proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders. Enjoy photos throughout the site and we look forward to talking to you soon!!
